Geographical position

Zhitkovichi region is situated in the southwest of Gomel oblast, borders on the Petrikov and Lelchitsy regions /Gomel oblast/, Stolin and Luninets regions /Brest oblast/ and Liuban and Soligorsk regions /Minsk oblast/.

The total area of the region is 2,9 thousand square kilometers. Some 56.3 per cent of the territory is covered with coniferous and black alder forests; 13.9 per cent of the territory are rivers, lakes and artificial water reservoirs; agricultural farms occupy 52,8 thousand hectares, arable lands – 23,1 thousand hectares.

There are 109 settlements in the region. Administratively, Zhitkovichi region is divided into the Turov town council of deputies and 13 village councils of deputies /Veresnitsa, Rychov, Ozerany, Pererov, Rudnia, Morokhorovo, Diakovichi, Chervonoye, Liudenevichi, Bronislav, Yurkevichi, Lenin and Milevichi/.
